Kodiak, AK – Koniag is excited to welcome a new company to our Energy and Water Sector. We have acquired Big G Electric & Engineering with an eye toward continued economic growth in Alaska. Based in Soldotna, Big G is a major electrical services provider whose clients and projects range from the Kenai Peninsula to the North Slope.
Koniag CEO Ron Unger said, “The Koniag Board and executive team are diligently focused on business growth, which leads to benefits and opportunities for our Shareholders. This is another positive step in that direction.”
Big G will strengthen Koniag’s electrical and oil field services capabilities. Koniag also owns Dowland-Bach and Glacier Services Inc., and this acquisition will present opportunities to create economic synergies and bundle services. This will expand Koniag’s growth in this business line as Big G has licensing to expand into North Dakota, Texas, Colorado and Wyoming.
Big G owner Bruce Gabriel will stay on as president to manage the company and he will become part of Koniag’s Energy and Water Sector leadership team. Bruce said, “This partnership is a great fit. Big G has always been a family company, and Koniag’s combination of strong community values and national reach presented a great opportunity for us to take the next step in our growth.”
